Dido and Aeneas, circa 1740 Rare fan with ivory "pagoda" mount*. The fan is closed, the frame has a circular base evoking a "basket". The top of the plumes are decorated with flowers and architecture. The skin leaf, lined with paper, painted with Aeneas holding the golden fleece and addressing Dido. On the reverse, Aeneas leaving Dido, which indicates the horizon evoking the journey. Closed, the fan is decorated with crossbars on its edge. H.t. 29 cm-H.f 13 cm
