An important carved walnut pedestal table, resting on three scrolled feet, acanthus leaves and lion paws, separated by a shell, the belt decorated with a frieze of foliage and a ribbon. On wheels. The tray in scagliole with the arms of the barons Pougeard du Limbert, in an environment imitating hard stone marquetry. The base bearing a stencil mark from: Maison D'ameublement TH FONTAYNE Jnt Rue Pavée 9 in Nimes. This pedestal table was commissioned by Henri Pougeard du Limbert (1817 - 1898), prefect of the Gard from 1852 to 1865 to decorate the prefecture of Nimes. Work from the south-east of France around 1855. Height: 74.5 cm, width: 114 cm.
