Lace lamps, circa 1720-1730, brocade made of red and pink silk, spun and curled in gold and silver; large design with a stylized bouquet at the tip, surmounted by a basket containing a flowering pomegranate inscribed between the volutes of a flounce of figurative lace, (good condition despite some wear and tear). Four panels of 292 x 53 cm. This spectacular lampas probably woven in Lyon is to be compared to the sumptuous furniture ordered by the Intendant Général des Meubles de la Couronne Gaspard-Moyse de Fontanieu for Versailles in 1726 and 1730. Designed by Lallié, Roussel, Ringuet and Thomas Germain, these brocades are woven by some fifteen manufacturers including Barnier, Bron and Ringuet; "these grandiose decorations, where the flowers, fruits and ornaments, integrated into cartridges made of supple foliage, half palms half feathers, gave the prestigious rooms of the castle a grand-century appearance" .
