MEDAL OF THE SERVICE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE FIVE HUNDRED. In cast and gilt bronze attributed to Captain Laurence; decorated with a Phrygian cap on a radiating background surrounded by the inscription "Service du conseil des500", and below, in a cartouche, is engraved the name of the man serving; on the reverse appears a winged caduceus surrounded by the motto "Tout homme utile est respectable", with a bélière, French work circa 1795-1799. Attached is a bronze medal celebrating the "Souvenir du glorieux combat du peuple français contre la tyrannie des Tuileries" - The Paris Commune, dated 10 August 1792, and a medal in effigy of Napoleon Bonaparte, General-in-Chief, signed A. Bovy, commemorating Napoleon during his campaign in Egypt on July 25, 1793. Time wear. Diameter : 5,8 cm ; 5,5 cm ; 4 cm. See illustration page 21.
