Sumptuous embroidered bridal handkerchiefs, mid-19th century. In linen hand thread, particularly finely and richly embroidered in plumetis and sand stitch and decorated with numerous Alençon type needlework patterns. A very densely embroidered with a well-structured composition of a ribbon of cartridges of flowers forming cartridges decorated with various patterns, each corner with two sumptuous large curved palms, small pompoms of trimmings all along the border, delicate small bunches of flowers in the centre; hemmed with a Valenciennes flounce with large carnations. (small accidents, mainly at the attachment of the modes to the linens) One to four large four-lobed cartouches for each of the corners and embroidered with flowers of volubilis, friezes of fashion medallions and florets with fine foliage, well held by a large and wide frieze embroidered with the same volubilis and florets between a double row of oblong cartouches decorated with various modes. (the central linon consolidated on the reverse)
