Egyptomania, around 1900-1920 Amazing fan made of ostrich feathers called "weeping" tinted green "malachite". Brown tinted ivoirine frame, decorated with Egyptian symbols including a beetle and papyrus. Bélière. H.t. 60 cm NB: the setting is similar to "Cleopatra" for the 1909 season of Serge Diaghilev's Ballets russes with costumes by Léon Bakst; and to Egyptomania fashion following the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb by Howard Carter in 1922.
