Long-grained red morocco, gilded decoration, arms and titling in the center of the boards, framing roulette, ornate ribbed spine, gilded edges, blue tabis endpapers. PROVENANCE: Marie-Caroline de Bourbon-Siciles, duchesse de Berry (1798-1870; bookplate from the Bibliothèque de Rosny) -- Baron de Fleury (bookplate) -- Charles du Verne (Paris, October 5, 2016, lot 169) Traces of rubbing to binding, hinge slightly cracked. The Livret des chasses du Roi appeared for thirteen years, from 1817 to 1829. Printed in cursive letters, it contains a wealth of hunting information on all the royal hunts. Reserved for those close to the King, these volumes organized and structured hunting at the French Court. "Printed only for the Princes and the King's Household, these volumes are extremely rare... those intended for the Princes were bound in morocco with the coat of arms of France" (Thiébaud).
