Henri Ostolle (? -1900), Cachés dans les voiles, circa 1890 A rare folded fan, the black gauze leaf painted with dancing loves behind sails and garlands of flowers. Signed lower left "H. Ostolle". A painter and member of the "Artistes français" society, Ostolle exhibited at the Salon from 1874. He wrote "L'art de peindre un éventail" in 1890, and "La fleur peinte sur l'éventail" 1892. He notably worked for Duvelleroy. Dumb reverse. Goldfish mother-of-pearl mounting. Gold-plated metal hanger. H.t.32,9 cm - H.f. 20,2 cm (minor wear)
