Play, Europe, circa 1770-1780 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English and painted with gouache of a theatrical scene animated by various characters; some in European costume and others in costumes evoking the Orient. Two side panels feature love scenes. Garlands and musical instruments on either side. Two loves in a medallion on the reverse. White mother-of-pearl mounting, engraved, silvered and gilded on the theme of love. Height 27 cm (accidents to mounting, stains, restorations)
