Pair of ormolu children's sconces with two leafy arms, the w - Lot 329
Pair of ormolu children's sconces with two leafy arms, the wicks and binnacles decorated with gadroons and acanthus leaves. Early 19th century. Height 32 cm (pierced for electricity) This pair of ormolu sconces evokes two names inseparable from the art of ormolu during the reign of Louis XVI: Jean-Louis Prieur, painter and designer (1759-1795), and Pierre Gouthière, chaser-gilder to the King.
