ELEGANT HARNESSED HORSE. - Lot 81
ELEGANT HARNESSED HORSE. Chinese work, Tang dynasty (608 - 906). Depicted standing, saluting with his head, right front leg raised, wearing a large saddlecloth falling over his flanks, strapped with bells, according to the canons of the Tang period. In terra cotta, covered with a polychrome slip based on red and black pigments, resting on a wooden base. Damage, missing parts, restoration, as is. The horse's leg and tail will be given to the purchaser. H. 29 cm - L. 36 cm. Provenance: Acquired by Jean and Violet Henson in London following the exhibition of Chinese art organized by The Royal Academy International in June 1935.
