QUESNE (du) x [1878] GUYARD de LA SICARDIE On: HEURES ROMAINES avec figures par A. Quesnoy, Tours, Alfred Mame et fils, [ca 1875], full morocco, muted ribbed spine, cold title, rich interior gilt roulettes, in-12 of 12 f.-516 pp. all edges gilt, gilt fillets on the edges, silk endpapers, silver plate chased with the figure in a crown on the first plate, edges gilt [A. Mame]. Each page in a monochrome illustrated frame in medieval or renaissance style. Text in black with red borders. Marguerite Guyard et Albert du Quesne, August 28, 1878" on the second endpaper. The silver plate monogrammed MQ in a baron's crown was probably made later for their daughter Marthe du Quesne, whose "souvenir de première communion" card, dated May 24, 1894 in Ruffec-le-Château, appears at the beginning of the book. The couple lived at Château de la Font in Ruffec (Indre). Very good condition
