Four melles, Maison Lefébure, Chantilly de Bayeux, bobbins, late 19th century. With floral decoration, in black silk lace, finely bobbin-woven, each with its own starting and ending threads, Dim. 135 x 9 cm for three of them and 80 x 11 cm for the fourth, to which we enclose seven other small melles for shawls or stoles (very good condition). Melles are spindle-worked strips that are later joined together by the "mending stitch" to form larger pieces that would be impossible to make in one piece. Provenance sale on October 3, 1989, Lefébure fund, Ionesco study in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
