Suite of four armchairs in carved wood, cream lacquer and gold rechampi. The backrest and waistband are decorated with a water-leaf frieze. Armrests with cuffs, resting on four tapered and fluted legs, upholstered in pale blue silk damask. Louis XVI period, stamped by Adrien-Pierre Dupain (received Master in 1772). Height : 96 cm - Width : 65 cm x Depth : 48 cm (Damage, missing parts and wear) Our four armchairs were part of a set with a pair of chaise ponteuses and a pair of canapés sold separately at Sotheby's on November 19 in Paris under lots 31, 32 and 33 as part of a suite known to have been probably delivered for Queen Marie-Antoinette at Saint-Cloud or in her Hameau house in Trianon.
