SERVICE OF THE SMALL VIEWS OF FRANCE. Royal and Imperial Manufacture, Sèvres, 1858 and 1863. Set of 24 hard porcelain dinner plates, with a central decoration of a hand-painted polychrome medallion, representing on each plate a different view of France, surrounded by a gold frieze. The main border "wing" is decorated with a large gold frieze with small rosettes topped by palmettes on an agate blue background. Each plate bears the identification in gold letters of the place represented: The door of Laon in Coucy-le-Château (Aisne); An entrance door in Bordeaux; The bridge of Hameau (Petit Trianon); The tower of Villeneuve-lès-Avignon (Gard); In Chambertin (Côte-d'Or); Dardennes, near Toulon; Buffon's tower in Montbard (Côte d'Or); The banks of the Saône, below Mâcon ; At Montmerle (Ain); View of the Bois de Boulogne (Seine); The entrance of the tunnel of Baisy (Côte-d'Or); Châteauroux (Indre); The tower of Henri IV in Moret (Seine-et-Marne); The Gorges d'Apremont, Forest of Fontainebleau; The hermitage of St-Bond, near Sens; The hillsides of Meudon, A view taken from the heights of Saint-Cloud; At the church of Montbard (Côte-d'Or); A view of Moret (Seine-et-Marne); Château- Gaillard (Eure); Eaux-Bonnes (Basses-Pyrénées); The Marlborough tower (Petit Trianon); At the Barbe island, near Lyon (another view); The old door of the Palace of Justice in Rouen ; The church of Saint-Ouen in Rouen. Very slight wear from time, but very good overall condition. Green mark : SV, LP under royal crown (18)45, (18)46, 18(55), (18)60. Gold mark : Sèvres, LP under royal crown, 1848. Red mark : decorated in Sèvres, N under imperial crown (18)58, (18)63. Mark in hollow : R (Ferdinand Régnier), B. Diam: 24 cm.
