Long ruffle with symbols of Christ, Brussels, late 19th century. Sumptuous flounce of clergyman with repetition decoration very finely made with spindles and needle: crucifixion cross with heart pierced by an arrow and monogram JHS in Gauze stitch, crown of thorns, ciborium, ears of wheat, garland of flowers and large roses blooming spindles, the petals decorated with fine varied modes in the needle, number MH in Gauze stitch at each end. Patterns applied on a network drochel spindles of great finesse, process rarely used during the second half of the nineteenth century. Cotton color cream, Dim. lace: 5,25 m x 20 cm (good condition, qqes pinholes at the beginning and end of the flounce, a snag)
