Christening dress, Ayrshire embroidery, mid-19th century. Long presentation dress or christening gown in linen very finely embroidered with feather duster, short sleeves and bodice with plastron embroidered with a mirror motif, a heart with garlands of flowers and leaves under a large flower with petals in medallions decorated with fine needlework, skirt with two flat ruffles on either side of an embroidery at the bottom of the skirt and the same decoration as the bodice. (good condition, a small hole and rare very small stains to the skirt). Cf. "Baby wore white" Mrs. Heather Toomer.
