[DIDOT, Pierre] Le Comte de Tersane, Histoire presque véritable, Par l'Auteur de Cléomène et du Somnambule. L'Isle de France, et se trouve à Paris, P. F. Didot le jeune, 1787. In-8, full olive morocco, smooth spine decorated, red morocco title-piece, triple fillet framing the boards stamped in their middle with the Breteuil arms surmounted by the motto Nec spe nec metu (Neither by hope, nor by fear), gilt roulette on the covers and gilt fillet on the edges, gilt edges. VIII, 319 pp. Very rare browned pages. Historical-sentimental novel published anonymously, sometimes attributed to Fanny de Beauharnais and more certainly to the printer Pierre Didot (1760-1853), eldest son of François-Ambroise Didot and grandson of François Didot. The work was printed on the presses of Pierre-François Didot le jeune, the uncle of Pierre Didot who, moreover, embellished many editions by the beauty of his characters and the correction of the text.
