Saint figure in gilded copper, hollow cast iron; applique element. Standing, he is dressed in a tunic and a cloak, one side of which returns to the front forming soft, rounded folds; oval face with wavy hair and beard. France, probably Paris, early 14th century H. 15.6 cm (visible losses, especially on the left side) On a red velvet base This figure would have been placed around a chase or an altar front on an enameled plaque. At the beginning of the 14th century, many Parisian workshops produced works in the Limoges style in the northern taste. A champlevé enamel plate with three figures in appliqué of the same size as this one is preserved in the Wyvern collection (inv 2511) and published in the work in reference. Another plate with an applied figure is in the Wallace Collection, (inv 277) and also came out of a Parisian workshop around 1300.
