Pair of girandoles in chased, patinated and gilded bronze, with a figure of bacchantes draped in the antique style holding a cup on which rests a spindle-shaped vase decorated with a frieze of acrobat in bas-relief, from which escape three arms of lights decorated with palmettes, surmounted by a pine cone, the quadrangular base decorated with a frieze of palmettes decorated with a figure of astronomy and literature in appliqué. (small restoration) Empire period. Model attributed to André - Antoine Ravrio (1759-1814) H. 76,5 cm The frieze of vases supported by bacchantes partly reproduces a wax relief "Le Cerceau" executed by Antoine-François Gérard (1760-1843) and preserved today in the Louvre with its counterpart "Le Coupe-Tête": Gérard was himself inspired by drawings of Jean-Guillaume Moitte (Clodion, exhibition catalog, Paris, 1992, pp.386-391, n°85-88)
