Rome, XVIIe siècle - Lot 129
Rome, XVIIe siècle Rare pair of putti in chased and gilded bronze. Seated, they have one arm raised, the other pushed back, the head bowed, the locks of hair curled. The body is chubby, a drape swirls between their legs. H. : 55 and 59 cm (Wear and re-gilding) Soclée Although seated, these cherubs seem very agitated, in movement. The arms and legs are in a disordered position, as well as the hair and the drapery. All the Baroque spirit is gathered here. These angels must have been placed on the cornice of a large altarpiece surrounding an altar in one of the many Roman chapels
