JOSE REYES (1928/1979): Guitarist, singer and founding membe - Lot 288
JOSE REYES (1928/1979): Guitarist, singer and founding member of the gypsy band Los Reyes, which later became the Gipsy Kings. 1 6-string acoustic guitar by José Reyes. The instrument is very old, made of Rio rosewood (Palo Santo) and spruce by the Sentchordi Hermans workshop in Valencia, Spain, dating from 1884/1885 and used by José Reyes for many years, in recording studio and in concert until his death in 1979. A letter from Chico Bouchikhi confirms the origin of this guitar: "... According to gypsy custom, José Reyes should have burned it, but José had a great respect for this guitar, and that is probably why he spared it. He said it had a soul. Probably because it's over a hundred years old, I found it has a deep sound that is different from today's guitars." Exceptional instrument. The letter from Chico and the letter from the expert restorer DM Lutherie (Katerina Fronista) in Avignon will be given to the buyer. Exceptional instrument.
