The Wedding of Asnath and Joseph, circa 1750 Folded fan, the skin sheet, lined with paper, painted with gouache of a rich palace open to the city. According to the biblical story, a priest joins hands with Asnath and Joseph, a former slave who became viceroy of Egypt. Pharaoh blesses their marriage while a chariot awaits the young couple. Inscription on the left "Joseph marries Asnath daughter of Putiphar". On the reverse, famous scene representing Joseph escaping from the wife of Putiphar, wife of his master, who accuses him of having wanted to abuse her. Rich mother-of-pearl mount cut, carved, engraved, burgundy, silvered and gilded Three cartels are illustrated with pastorals, flowers and musical instruments. The reverse side is painted with flowers, trophies and a pastoral. H.t. 30 cm-H.f. 14,3 cm (small lacks)
