The Meeting, ca. 1730-1740 Folded fan, the painted skin sheet of a soldier wearing helmet and cuirass in conversation with a queen, perhaps Dido and Aeneas? Two servants assist them. Reverse: a child alone. Ivory mount*. The throat and plumes painted in red in the taste of Chinese mounts, and enhanced with flowers and green butterflies. The reverse side painted with a bouquet of golden flowers. Metal clasp. H.t. 28 cm-H.f. 15,2 cm (cuts, stains, wear) In a Chinese box, 19th century.
