Pâris and Venus, circa 1700 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English, and painted in gouache on cream background of the shepherd Pâris offering the golden apple to the most beautiful of women, Venus. With Mercury, messenger of the gods, Minerva wearing helmet and breastplate, and Juno near her chariot drawn by peacocks, assist to the scene, Revers painted with playlets in border. Ivory mounting* finely carved, pierced and engraved of a couple dancing and drinking. The plumes carved of Pierrot and enhanced with engraved white mother-of-pearl plates. H.t. 28 cm-H.f. 15,8 cm (wear, restorations)
