The visit of the Siamese embassy in Versailles, circa 1680-1700 Fan leaf, painted with gouache, ovaled and completed. Seated on a throne dominated by a radiant sun, a sovereign is fanned by two servants. Around them, characters in exotic costumes evoking the Orient. Some play music, others present birds, or offer refreshments. A beautiful aviary on the right holds birds with colorful plumage. The composition could evoke the diplomatic visit of the Siamese embassy to the Palace of Versailles in 1686. D. 45 cm (accidents) In a gilded wood frame. 18th century 48.5 cm x 57.5 cm N.B.: this sheet was exhibited at the Fan Museum in London in 2003-2004.
