BOUCQ, François (1955) - Lot 88
BOUCQ, François (1955) The magician's wife India ink on paper for plate 6 of this story published by Casterman as part of the Studios (À Suivre) collection in 1986. Size: 50 x 40 cm. One of François Boucq's flagship albums (crowned best album at Angoulême in 1986, and Grand prix for the author in 1998) with the novelist Jerome Charyn who also collaborated with him on the titles Bouche du Diable and more recently New York Cannibals in 2020. Boucq is a cartoonist as much at ease in the humorous register in the newspaper "Pilote", fantastic with his collaborations with Jodorowsky but also realistic (he attends in 2020 the trial of Charlie Hebdo's attacks and sketches the speakers on the spot). His virtuoso and fast style is perfectly illustrated here with a crucial moment in the life of the heroine Rita, falling little by little under the control of the perverse magician Edmond, her mother's companion, who tortures her by making her appear her dead father.
