Collection of laces, early 17th to late 19th century Collection built up by Mrs Ida Phipson, begun in 1845 and given to Mrs Emma Phipson in 1880. Album presenting a fine sampling of needle and bobbin laces, from the oldest dating from the 17th century, Van Dyck to the bobbins of Flanders and the needle of England, Antwerp, Flanders, Venice, to the later ones dating from the end of the 19th century, Point de Gaze, Duchess, Bucks, Bedfordshire, Carrickmacross, Youghal, through lace from the 18th century, Binche and Alençon from the beginning of the 18th century, Brussels, Mechelen, Hollie Point, etc.(Good general condition, some laces with small stains, accidents in the album).
