The most beautiful jewels, circa 1790-1800 Fan, the leaf in cream-coloured skin painted with coloured scrolls and flowering bouquets enhanced with mother-of-pearl. In the centre, an oval engraving of the Roman story of Cornelia, mother of the Gracchi. In front of a patrician woman showing her jewels, she presented her children saying "Here are my jewels". Reverse side painted with delicate laurel branches. Original mounting alternating strands of ivory* and brown tortoiseshell** cut out, engraved and gilded with two medallions. H.t. 26,8 cm-H.f. 15 cm (restorations)
