St. Peter's in Rome, ca. 1780-1790 Folded fan, the so-called "Grand Tour", the cream silk sheet painted in the style of the Pompeii frescoes, with two labels after Pliny's famous doves. In the center, St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and Bernini's colonnade. Ivory* mount cut with scrolls and enhanced with steel spangles. The plumes enhanced with faceted steel nails in the style of Reynard Schey, supplier of Parisian tabletiers from 1781. Dumb reverse. H.t. 28,5 cm H.f. 13,5 cm (wear, restorations and stains)
