The Four Seasons of a Wedding, circa 1770 Folded wedding fan, the double sheet of gouache-painted paper of the four seasons. In the centre, Summer with its blue spray greets Autumn accompanied by water. Winter shelters on the left while Spring admires the new flowering. Reverse: shepherdess and two sheep in a vast landscape. White mother-of-pearl frame richly carved, engraved and gilded with portraits of men and women, in miniature under glass, among birds and vases. The decoration is enhanced with Rhinestones in imitation of diamonds. Hearts, roses and radiant suns surround the portrait of a man of quality and a woman adorned with jewels in hearts.
