ALEXANDRE PETROVITCH, prince d'Oldenbourg (1844-1932) Set of two L.A.S. "Prince Alexander of Oldenburg", Villa Machelon, Biarritz, dated 30 March and 22 May 1931, addressed to Major General Michel Gueorguévitch Khripounoff (1889-1983), Ataman of the Cossacks, in-folio, text in Russian. Good general condition. Translation: I cordially thank your Excellency for your congratulations and good wishes and I am touched by your continued attention. It is a great pleasure to see our dear Cossacks very united. Please give them my best Easter greetings. MANUSCRIPTED ARCHIVES AND CORRESPONDENCES OF PRINCE SERGE GEORGUIEVITCH ROMANOVSKY (1890-1974) AND MISCELLANEOUS (*) Prince Serge Romanovsky was a man of many talents. Through his writings and correspondence, we discover, first of all an officer of the Russian Imperial Army, a war hero, but above all a man faithful to his moral commitments to Tsar Nicholas II and his people. Then when he is in exile, deprived of everything, he organizes with great willingness the assistance to Russian refugees in France and Italy. The archives we are putting up for sale also reveal that the prince is also the author of many scientific and historical articles, but also a man of spirit and an excellent politician. His texts and plays show his writing skills.
