École Allemande du XVIIIe siècle Portrait of landgrave Frederick II of Hesse-Cassel (1720-1785), wearing the scarf and the plate of the Order of the Garter against a landscape background. Miniature ativoire∆ in rectangular form, preserved under bevelled glass in its antique copper frame edged with net. Good condition. Circa 1760/1770. At sight : H. : 5,5 cm - L. : 7,5 cm. Frame : H. : 6,5 cm - L. : 8,5 cm. Provenance: this miniature was exhibited in Hannover in 1918 under the number 298, as part of the exhibition of the Kestner-Gesellschaft: "Miniatures and private portraits in Lower Saxony". It came from the collection of Dr. Leo Catzenstein (1863-1936) and has been preserved since in his descendants.
