PRESENT OFFERED FOR THE SILVER WEDDING OF THE COUNT AND COUNTESS OF PARIS. In the form of a miniature stele in the imitation of a red marble low wall, applied on the front of a gilded bronze plaque decorated with the arms of France on a blue enamelled background surmounted by the inscription: "30 May 1864 - 30 May 1889" and on the reverse of another plaque also in bronze on which is engraved: "Respectful homage to the servants of the House for the Silver Wedding of Monseigneur le Comte and Mme la Comtesse de Paris, 30 May 1889". One element is missing. French work signed on the reverse "Froment-Meurice". H.: 18 cm - L.: 12.5 cm - W.: 6 cm. Provenance: former collection of Prince Henri d'Orléans, Count of Paris (1908-1999) and his wife Princess Isabelle d'Orléans-Bragance (1911-2003), from the sale of their estates, 29 and 30 September 2015, Sotheby's n° 111. History: victim of a first exile at the fall of the July monarchy, Philippe d'Orléans (1838-1894), Count of Paris and son of the late Duke Ferdinand d'Orléans, married his first cousin, Isabelle d'Orléans (1848-1919), daughter of the Duke of Montpensier and infanta of Spain, in 1864 in Kingston, England. Authorized to return to France in 1871, he was again exiled fifteen years later and it was at Stowe House in Buckinghamshire that he would reside until his death.
