Two handkerchiefs, Point de Gaze and application from Brusse - Lot 305
Two handkerchiefs, Point de Gaze and application from Brussels, Belgium, end of the 19th century. A very original and finely crafted handkerchief, with an inlaid frame that crosses the central linoleum in four diagonals: in each corner, a crown of falling foliage and flowers from which rises a slender bouquet of fine stems hemmed with small berries and leaflets that join a medallion in the centre of the handkerchief; a series of small leaves with fashionably decorated medallions delicately festooned along the edge punctuated by a group of three large leaves cut out on each side. (very nice condition) One in application of Brussels with elegant floral decoration, volubilis, roses and fleurs-de-lis au naturel finely made with needlepoint and inlaid in cotton tulle, leaves, blooming roses and garlands of leaflets finely made with spindles and applied on the tulle. (très bel état) Two handkerchiefs of handmade Brussels lace dating from the end of the 19th century. One of Point de Gaze insertions finely worked in needle lace with floral motifs (very good condition) and one in appliqué lace with floral motif of Point de Gaze needle point such as volubilis, roses and lily flowers, leaves and blooming roses of bobbin lace applied onto a cotton tulle. (very good condition)
