Border, embroidery from Dresden, Germany, mid-18th century. Border (dress facing?) in muslin very finely embroidered with a throw stitch and threads spread with a decoration of flowers, leaves and cartridges decorated with various stitches. Hemmed with a small lace flounce with light background bobbins. Placed on a pink cloth. Dim. 2 m x 12 cm. (rare small spots) Cf. "The History of Lace" Mrs Margaret Simeon, p.75 pl.78 A deep border of fine whitework on cotton muslin, Dresden stitch, Germany, edged with a point ground bobbin lace flounce. Dating from the middle of the 18th century. Cream in colour. We have pink cloth. Dim. 2 m x 12 cm (in good overall condition, a few little openings at the upper border) See.
