Needlepoint lace stockings, Margaret Simeon collection, Sedan, circa 1720-30.
Low dawn or wide flounce for the furnishing with superb and rich decoration well representative of this period.
Composition in two large alternating motifs worked in perfect symmetry, decorated with various stitches and enhanced with embroideries in relief mainly in the center of the motifs: beautiful and large leaves, flexible palm leaves in rinceau, large flowers and exotic fruits including a remarkable carnation flower in full bloom, flexible leaf-shaped cartridges and hemmed with flowers on their short stem. Large pitted mesh network. Linen, ivory colour with darker shades, the embroideries a darker tone. Dim. 3.45 m x 64 cm (good condition)
