Needlework lace borders, France, circa 1720-1740. Made of very fine needlework lace. One in Alençon lace with large cartouches adorned with vases with flowering branches and large palms with various patterns, supple foliage and flowers along the edge. Cream-coloured linen. Dim. 2.80 m x 5 cm (delicate old restorations, discreet stitching) Provenance: Sale Phillips, London, May 1995. One in needle lace early 18th or late 19th century, with pineapple motifs, vases and flexible foliage and foliage in perfect symmetry, small beaded modes. Dim. 1,60 m x 5 cm (good condition) Two borders of fine French handmade needle lace, worked in various stitches in fine linen thread, cream in colour. dating from about 1720-40. One of Alençon with vases and floral motif, Dim. 2,80 m x 5 cm (some old fine repairs, a few joins) Provenance: Phillips sale, London, May 1995 Together with a border designed with pineapple, vases and palms symmetrical motifs, Dim. 1,60 m x 5 cm (very good condition)
