Volant en Point de France, needle, late 17th century. Needlework lace of great finesse with a very typical decoration of the first Point de France created according to the drawings of the ornamentalist Jean Bérain. Alternating mirror, candelabra, foliage and well-structured cartouches, enhanced by raised embroidery, large pitted mesh networks. Ivory linen. Dim. 1.85 m x 15 cm (seams or fine restorations, a few scattered holes) Cf. "Lace a History" Mme Santina M.
