Border "Mezzo Punto", spindles and needle, Italy ? 2nd half of the 17th century. In mixed lace, opulent decoration with dense patterns of large exotic flowers and supple foliage made in bobbin laces, a double cord underlining the contours, and decorated with various needle stitches. Patterns connected by thin scalloped flanges with a few pitted rings. Cream-coloured linen. Dim. 2.10 m x 17 cm (good general condition, rare small resumptions) Provenance: Drouot, Paris, October 1983. A rare handmade Italian (?) border in Mezzo Punto dating from the 2nd half of the 17th century, motifs of bobbin lace with couched cord outlines and decorated with fancy meshes in needle lace. Linen thread, cream in colour. Dim. 2,10 m x 17 cm (good condition, a few little repairs) Provenance: Drouot, Paris, October 1983.
