Wedding at the French Court, ca. 1770-1780 Folded fan, the double silk sheet painted with gouache, celebrating a royal wedding at the French court. In the center, the miniature portraits of a young man and a young girl face each other. They are surmounted by a royal crown executed in gold thread. On either side, symbols of Love including doves, torch, hearts, quivers and arrows. Border on a pink background with panther spots effect. The dauphin Louis married Marie Antoinette in May 1770 in Versailles. It is probably the subject of this fan. Dumb reverse. Ivory frame finely cut, pierced, carved, engraved and enhanced in colors on the Chinese theme with three characters. H.t. 28,5 cm - H.f. 13,6 cm (wear, restorations)
