Quelques fleurs, Europe, circa 1770 Folded fan, the leaf in skin, mounted in English style and painted with gouache. In the center, a gallant offers a bouquet of flowers to a lady, while a little girl plays with a dog. On the sides, two cartels showing shepherds and their flock, one in the setting sun, the other in the rising sun. The reverse features a garland of flowers. Bone mount, engraved and silvered, decorated with flowers and cartels, two of which are painted with trophies of Love on a blue background and a miniature country scene on a pink background in the center. Height 27.5 cm (wear, rear plume missing)
