Les mots doux, circa 1700
Broken ivory fan, finely cut and painted with a gallant scene in a central cartel. The young man is dressed as a Santiago de Compostela pilgrim. Small Chinese-style cartels adorn the sides and throat.
On the reverse, the motifs on the face are repeated in black line.
The plumes are carved with flowering baskets and flaming hearts.
