History of the Louis XVI droguet vest
A small flowerette placed in repetition on a lampas evokes Watteau's country scenes. The pink, cream and gray-green tones are characteristic of the end of Louis XVI's reign. The taste for flowers is in line with Jean-Jacques Rousseau's desire to return to nature. The stylization lends great nobility to this fabric, made from a period document.
